Today in class we did our first mini research. We
researched some things that were put up on the board. For example there was
Agora, Polis, the importance of the year 508 BC for the ancient greeks, Socrates,
death of Socrates, the Socrates method, and others I didn’t get to. Agora is a
public open space used for assemblies and markets. Polis is a city in ancient Greece,
especially as considered in its ideal form for philosophical purposes. The
reason why the year on 508 BC is extremely important to the ancient greeks is
because that day democracy is introduced in Athens by Cleisthenes. He established
a constitution and is often called the “father of Athenian Democracy”. Also
people in this year revolted against their ruler. Socrates was a greek philosopher.
And we had to research the death of Socrates. He was convicted of corrupting the
youth of Athens and introducing strange gods and was sentenced to death by
drinking. And the last thing ive gotten to was the socratic method. It’s a form
of cooperative argumentative dialogue.

These reasons are called push and pull factors. Push factors are ways people may leave a country and go to another. This includes a civil war, unemployment, religious reasons, and maybe environmental degradation. The other factor for migration is a pull factor. This includes a better economic, health services, religious freedom, and political freedom. I found out that in Canada when you get hurt and go to a hospital that you can just get treated and leave. But in the United states when you get hurt and go to the hospital not only can you be treated but you also have to pay hundreds and maybe even thousands of dollars to be treated. That can be a reason why people...
