Continuing our discussion on Population today in human geo we talked about migration and the reason people leave a country. There are reasons why people might migrate from one country to another. These reasons are called push and pull factors. Push factors are ways people may leave a country and go to another. This includes a civil war, unemployment, religious reasons, and maybe environmental degradation. The other factor for migration is a pull factor. This includes a better economic, health services, religious freedom, and political freedom. After we discussed those two factors we talked about how many people go to Canada instead of the United states. I found out that in Canada when you get hurt and go to a hospital that you can just get treated and leave. But in the United states when you get hurt and go to the hospital not only can you be treated but you also have to pay hundreds and maybe even thousands of dollars to be treated. That can be a reason why people
Today in human Geo we continued to add to our new unit… POPULATION AND SETTLEMENT! Like I said in my other blog I found this unit especially interesting because I find it crazy how tens, hundreds, thousands, millions and billions people can live on planet Earth. Just a quick recap. During class LAST week we visited this very cool site that showed us everything you need to know about planet Earths population. For example, birth rate and death rate. The population is always adding up because the birth rate is higher than the death rate. WELL… today in human geo we went over life expectancy. The definition of life expectancy is the average # of years to be lived by a group of people born in the same year. I learned that women have a higher life expectancy rate than men… everywhere. Not just in the United states or some other random place but everywhere! Maybe   because we are smarter… who knows!!!
I NEED to know my test grade. Its been killing me inside and out. I don’t know whether I did good or bad and I really need to see my results! But today in Human Geo we talked about POPULATION AND SETTLEMENTS! I found it very interesting to learn about population! I learned 7.5 billion people live on Earth. And the population is increasing by over 73 million people per year! Which means 200,000 per day. And so on… but 90% of the population growth take place in the developing countries of Africa, south and East Asia and Latin America. We visited this site that showed us the birth rate, death rate and it was really cool seeing how the number of people were going up and down. But the birth rate increased more than deaths so the population grew a lot more than deaths. But it doesn’t show if a natural disaster happens.
