Continuing our discussion on Population today in human geo we talked about migration and the reason people leave a country. There are reasons why people might migrate from one country to another. These reasons are called push and pull factors. Push factors are ways people may leave a country and go to another. This includes a civil war, unemployment, religious reasons, and maybe environmental degradation. The other factor for migration is a pull factor. This includes a better economic, health services, religious freedom, and political freedom. After we discussed those two factors we talked about how many people go to Canada instead of the United states. I found out that in Canada when you get hurt and go to a hospital that you can just get treated and leave. But in the United states when you get hurt and go to the hospital not only can you be treated but you also have to pay hundreds and maybe even thousands of dollars to be treated. That can be a reason why people rather go there.

Today coming into school was miserable! The only day it rains this week is the day I don’t have a jacket… just my like huh? But my sperry’s got wrecked and the schools TOO hot. Like before it was freeeeezing but now its way too hot. Why can I never just be comfortable in this school! But, Today in class I was preparing myself for a mental break down. We were having our quiz on world leaders and I studied so so so so hard but I wasn’t sure if I studied everything!!!! Going into the test I know the first two pages then it came the 3 rd and I had no idea what most of the were! And the last page was even worse because you could have the leaders be more than one question so I couldn’t do my elimination strategy. But I got through it so hopefully I do better than I thought and I don’t flunk.

Last blog I did, I didn’t really go over what I took notes on during class. During class we discussed population pyramids. We can use population pyramids to analyze growth (or decline) of fertility, mortality and migration in cities. There are three basic shapes that the pyramids been shaped as. The three shapes are the Christmas tree, a box, and lastly a cup. The Christmas tree is meant to show us how the growth rate is slow. But the birth rate is high. The box shows us that the population has a low infant mortality. But with a long life expectancy. And lastly, the cup. The cup is supposed to show us the people that the population has a low birth rate and a long life expectancy. Okay now fast forward to now. We talked about this again today and just went over more countries and seeing what population shape they fit in. I found this one where there are so many men because most of them are in jail.
