Today was tropical day at The John Carroll. I wore a Hawaiian
shirt, with a grass shirt and socks and sandals. I felt pretty snazzy till the
beginning of the day. I SPILLED MY FRENCH VINILLA CAPACHINNO ALL OVER MY BOOKS.
That of course was the beginning of an amazing day! But I went human geo where
we continued our research on the democratic and republican regions. I learned
that the deep north where north Dakota and part of Montana are is republican
during the years of 2004, 2008, and 2012. The places that stayed democratic
through the three years was the rust belt, New England, new York and the
mid-Atlantic. During our lesson we were talking about the election of 2016.
Between Trump and Clinton apparently Clinton had more votes from people but
Trump Electoral votes. He was asking us whether or not we thought this was a
fair voting method. Im not really sure how I feel about this situation.
Continuing our discussion on Population today in human geo we talked about migration and the reason people leave a country. There are reasons why people might migrate from one country to another. These reasons are called push and pull factors. Push factors are ways people may leave a country and go to another. This includes a civil war, unemployment, religious reasons, and maybe environmental degradation. The other factor for migration is a pull factor. This includes a better economic, health services, religious freedom, and political freedom. After we discussed those two factors we talked about how many people go to Canada instead of the United states. I found out that in Canada when you get hurt and go to a hospital that you can just get treated and leave. But in the United states when you get hurt and go to the hospital not only can you be treated but you also have to pay hundreds and maybe even thousands of dollars to be treated.
