This week at The John Carroll school is sprit week! And
today on this fine Tuesday is USA day and Maryland day. Everyone decked out in
all red white and blue and some others black, yellow, white and red look so
cool. But on another subject today I had human geo. Today in human geo we took
notes on Regions and the cultural landscape. First off we wrote down have a “sense
of place”. A sense of place would be a location where you feel most
comfortable. For example, our teacher was saying how he had grown up in Chicago
and that was his sense of place. He had known the area very well and was very
comfortable being there. Then we had written down what a region is. A region is
an area of the Earth defined by one or more distinctive characteristics. The we
explained what a cultural landscape was. It is the combination of both physical
and human characteristics that uniquely define places and areas. And lastly, we
wrote down what types of regions mean. It can refer to anything larger then a
point and smaller than a planet. Our teacher was telling us before we had
written this down that we would either think this was the most smartest
sentence ever or the dumbest. I thought it sounded confusing though. But that
was my lesson in Human Geo!
Today in Human Geo I walk in on Hugh and Logan drawing on the board. I decided to join them and draw me as an angel that says GGMAMA next to it because the holidays are coming fast. ONLY 26 DAYS. TILL CHRISTMAS!!! If that doesn’t put a smile on your face I have no idea what will. But today in Human Geo the that the beautiful artwork I had crafted on the board we took more notes on the population pyramids. MORE NOTES. Although we have been learning about these for quite a few classes I did actually learn something new that wasn’t taught in any other class. I learned that building factories can increase the population. Cause you think about all the people who leave one place to come where the factories are to work. Which will make the population grow in that one area. That’s something new I have learned!!!
