EXTRA CREDIT KIVA

Founded in 2005, Kiva is an international nonprofit organization. This organization sets a goal to help people all around the world to be able to create a new future of opportunities. Methods this organization provides is having people to pay as little as $25.00, with this money that is lent can help a person reach their goal amount. These loans are very effective for both the lender and receiver. There are people in 84 different countries borrowing from the cite Kiva. There have also been 1.7 million lenders able to help another reach their goal. Kiva has a 97% repayment rate. This cite is filled with positive reviews. Kiva has helped so many people from around the world start a whole new future for themselves.
As I research potential borrowers these 2 people really stuck out to me going through the lists. One of the borrowers I stumbled across was from Bhaisepati, Nepal. Her name is Pramila and she is a farmer. She needs a loan of $600 to buy seeds and fertilizers. She only has 50 dollars to go! But what really made me look at her was when reading her story, it says “She has already received and repaid 5 loans from Patan BPW”. Knowing this woman has already done this many times before make me believe this cite does help people and does work effectively.  Another potential borrower that I had found was names Ana Marlene. She is from San Gabriel, Ecuador and she wants a $1000 loan to help buy pigs, balance feed, and potatoes. What really stuck out to me was that her and her husband both have devoted their lives to farming. They have two children that they need to pay for. At the end of her story it says, “Ana aspires to continue working hard for the well-being of her children”. This stuck out to me because this woman is not just working hard for herself to live, but her family. This cite helps her do so, so she can provide for her children so they can live the life they need to have, filled with a house and food and protection.
Researching the places these two people live in I found that Bhaisepati, Nepal is located in the Central Region. Nepal is a very poor country which is one reason why Pramila is on this cite.

The other country Ecuador is another very poor country. It is located in Central America. It was never fully developed and they do not have a modern economy that is strong.

Today coming into school was miserable! The only day it rains this week is the day I don’t have a jacket… just my like huh? But my sperry’s got wrecked and the schools TOO hot. Like before it was freeeeezing but now its way too hot. Why can I never just be comfortable in this school! But, Today in class I was preparing myself for a mental break down. We were having our quiz on world leaders and I studied so so so so hard but I wasn’t sure if I studied everything!!!! Going into the test I know the first two pages then it came the 3 rd and I had no idea what most of the were! And the last page was even worse because you could have the leaders be more than one question so I couldn’t do my elimination strategy. But I got through it so hopefully I do better than I thought and I don’t flunk.

Today in human geography it twas the most perfect temperature! I wasn’t too hot and I wasn’t too cold. I was just right. It was kind of like the three little bears. When I walked in My teacher Mr. Schick told me about a snow storm named Grayson. Different spelling but the same name as mine! And the storm is JUST LIKE ME! Just going around… ruining people’s lives. Yep sounds like me! But today in class after having a whole day to work on this “worlds leaders” project we got to notes on the extended information our teacher Mr. Schick found on his own. As we took some notes some of the leaders of these countries we learned about had very interesting background stories. Like the president of India was in one of the lowest groups in india. And another that was probably the weirdest was the france president who married his high school teacher!!! LIKE EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

As I walked into human geo I was extremely surprised that I wasn’t freezing. The other day I walked in and my soul was numb. But today was different. As I walked in I wasn’t even the slightest bit cold like I felt yesterday. But I was very pleased with the temperature that was in the school today! Today in human geo we were given a project that would be turned in on Friday. For the project, we have to research all of the countries given. In the beginning of the class it sounded like he wanted us to only do one or two countries! No! we had to do 15. And with these 15 countries we had to find the head of government, the name of country, the government type, and picture of a map! But it took me forever and I really hope we have a snow day tomorrow because I want to sleeeeeeeep!
